Here's the report I wrote for our annual meeting, held last week:
Pastor’s Report for 2011
February 26, 2012
Last January in my report I wrote:
As we look ahead to 2011 my primary goal is to nurture and grow the seeds God has planted here with the clear teaching of the Word. We need to think about what God is already doing here in our town and decide how we can come alongside and make an impact for his kingdom. Any mission statements we write, programs we plan or outreach we attempt needs to be in line with God’s will as He reveals it to us. I pray that you join with me and the elders as we seek His will in prayer.
Looking back I think God has been busy here in our community tilling the fields and preparing hearts for the harvest. He has been working in our fellowship strengthening our faith through his Word and filling us with His Holy Spirit to accomplish His plan here. I’m reminded of these verses from Isaiah 55:
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
This has been a year of rapid change as we watched our small town grow and expand. It’s good to have a place of refuge to come to and fellowship with friends and family and be refreshed with God’s Word. It has been my great privilege to share with you each week – I pray for the right words to speak this Living Word. He promises that: “it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
I believe that 2011 was a year of building and preparing the soil; 2012 will be a year of growth and reaping the harvest. We’ve been seeking God’s leading and He has spoken clearly through the recent gift of land. As we move forward with plans for a new church home He will continue to guide our way. I am confident He will provide the way forward. The one verse I cling to when facing seemingly insurmountable challenges is Proverbs 3:5,6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Many of us have faced challenges this past year: loss of loved ones, serious health issues, and so much more – it’s good to have the anchor of faith when we are in pain or mourning. God’s word comforts us in our distress:
5 “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.
7 My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
8 O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.” (Ps 62:5-8)
I look forward to what God has planned for us in the coming year!
TAKE NOTE: We now have land here in Watford City to build our worship center! After much prayer and seeking after God's leading 5 acres became available, what a blessing! The land is located just outside of town off Hwy 85 going NE on a hill with a gorgeous view.
We hope to raise funds and have a building up this year. Can you help? Please click on the donate section in the sidebar to the left.
